Can someone give me a convincing arguement on why the Acura MDX is better than the Toyota Highlander?

As someone who very seriously considered buying those two vehicles (among many others), I have to say the MDX wins in luxury but there's little there that you can't option out on a Toyota Highlander. When it came down to it for me, I opted for the 2009 Honda Pilot Touring. (I take delivery later this week.) The Highlander's seats don't fold flat enough and leave gaps for things to fall between. The engine is sufficient but the MDX has more pep (though is, by no means, a quick vehicle). The MDX wins in the headlamp department because you can't beat Xenons. But the Highlander has more usable space. For some reason, they made the new MDX smaller. I find that counterintuitive. Then there's the layout of the dash -- MDX wins big time. The Toyota is going to be more reliable but the Acura shouldn't be too far behind. Hondas are better, though. I know they're theoretically the same but in my experience with a multitude of Acuras, things just aren't the same.

In the end: it's a matter of taste. Weigh the options carefully. You WILL be satisfied with a Toyota Highlander. You MAY be satisfied with an MDX.|||better vvt technology and more fuel economy

dude you should know by now

honda %26gt; toyota

but i must admit

toyota got the prius down *thumbs up*

and the supra|||The toyota is nothing but a covered up truck. It's handling is not good, it does have better space it is slower than the mdx and does not have as good of crash test ratings and the mdx gets better gas mileage. The comfort of the ride and the control you have in the mdx will not even be close to the toyot and the mdx is laid out much better than the toyot. The reliability of acura has passed toyota and infiniti and the perfomance is not even close on the toyot. The seating is much better (comfort) The base car comes with memory seats, moonroof, tri zone climate control, 6 disc in dash cd, aux jack for mp3 player, power driver and passenger seat w power lumbar ion drivers side. all mdx's come with tire pressure monitoring system and maintence minders to let you know when maintenance is needed. The look is much more sophisticated and striking than a toyot or lexus. There is no suv in it's class that is better than the MDX and the MDX is the top pick in many magazines. You don't see the toyo in there as a top pick or the lexus.|||Higher resale value and the Acura is more comfortable.|||honda is equivalent to toyota and acura is equivalent to lexus.... If both are the same price the acura is better... and for the person who said prius is good, it's really not... it is said to get 60 mpg but it only gets 40
