How many seat does acura mdx have?

does anyone how many seat does the 2006 and 2007 acura mdx have? thanks|||7

Doesn't 2+3+2 equal 7 ? So how's that wrong ....|||s|||3 rows=6|||NO! All three are wrong. All MDXs (New and previous model) have 2 up front, 3 in middle, and 2 cramped ones in back. I know, I have a new model and an old one.|||Four; Two front buckets with a second row and third row bench seat.

Are the Honda Pilot or Acura MDX coming in a hybrid model soon?

Nope.. There won't be a hybrid Pilot or MDX anytime soon.

Honda is slated to release three new hybrids for next year though-- A hybrid Fit, a hybrid CR-Z sports car, and a Global Small Hybrid that doesn't yet have a name (but the spy photos show it strongly resembles a Toyota Prius).

All of them will be using Honda's mild-hybrid IMA system (which cannot move the car on electric alone).|||no honda doesent have plans for hybrid pilot or mdx. I think honda is going to release hybrids next year but no pilot or mdx.|||Nope. Hybrid SUV's do not sell well.

Acura MDX suspension noise?

Well I have a 01 Acura MDX 90k miles. And I want to know what may be causing a problem in the suspension. So basicly when I turn at low speeds and hit the brake i get a crackin sound or when I accelerate I get a crackin sound in the front suspension. Ive already replaced All 4 struts And both Lower control arm bushings. so If you guys know what may wrong.|||A cracking noise? Does only do it when you brake into the turns? That would be amazing to know but...

All i can tell you is somethings loose or missing its fastener. youd need to provide more details to get specific.|||First thing to remember : IT'S A 9 Y/O VEHICLE! With that out of the way unless you want to dump gobs of money into it ... There are literally hundreds of moving parts under the hood and suspension. I'd weigh my options, have all the safety related items checked if there is no problem found, let it go...

2001 acura mdx headlights and tailights?

I have a 2001 acura mdx and i was wondering if the 2004 acura mdx tailights would fit in my 2001 mdx and i was also wondering if the headlights would fit also? If anyone knows please let me know thanks-Brandon|||call up Acura and ask them..it's toll free

Acura MDX, I had heard they were the best SUV, now that I have rode in one - a 2004 touring model.?

I guess I have to agree, Its better that a lexus rx, or a Infinity QX56 and Honda pilots. I have to like it better than anything but a Land Cruiser and that is a real different kettle of fish. Any thoughts?|||The MDX and the RX are best of the bunch, but I prefer the MDX because it looks good, and you get lots of standard equipment that might not come with the RX. Also, for every MDX you see, you will also see ten other RX's; the MDX does have a unique look to it.|||I look at the MDX as this... Acura wants to be luxury. If wood equals luxury, then Lexus has real wood trim so it's real luxury. Acura MDX has faux wood, which means thay are faux luxury.

The RX is not best selling luxury SUV for no reason, it's better. Maybe not in ALL categories, but in majority.

Will the 2008 Acura MDX require premium fuel?

My wife really wants the Acura MDX, but she will not purchase a car that requires premium fuel. Before we go and buy a Maxda CX-9, does anyone know if Acura plans on changing the premium fuel requirement in the '08 MDX to regular gas?|||It requires premium fuel, this will not change because this is a new model|||All Acura's require premium fuel...(it's Mazda and if you think Mazda's are all that great. I can tell you my husband drives a LOT of cars, because he travels and only the Mazda 6, was one of his favorites...and yes he has driven almost every SUV on the market, except for Lexus...last week it was the new Ford...he said he'd never heard such a nasty, tinny engine in his life....hahahahahahaha...well geez...he drives a TSX and he expects all cars/suvs/trucks to sound like an Acura ??? )|||No plans for Acura to change the requirement. It is basically the same vehicle as the 2007, which was just redesigned.

Ok, let's think about this logically...you are buying a $40,000+ vehicle but won't buy it if it requires premium fuel?

If you can afford a $40,000+ vehicle, pay the extra $3 a week for the premium. Get what you want. You will kick yourself if you are comparing the CX-9 to the MDX and expect the same satisfaction.

If you really are dead set against it, look at the Honda Pilot. Although it is a little less attractive in and out, it is much cheaper, on the same platform, and does not require premium.|||Good grief people its 20 freaking cents!!!! Most cars now that are new run on premium fuel, get used to it. Its not going to change. And yes putting regular unleade DOES hurt the combustion chamber of a engine that requires premium. The fuel combustion temp is set by the octane rating.

Does any know where I can locate a service manual for an Acura MDX (2004)?

I own a 2004 Acura MDX, I'm looking for a wiring diagram for the A/C system. Please help.|||O'Reilly Auto Parts $25.|||Acura dealership.|||Are you looking to buy it online or at the local store? Some auto parts store carries them like Shucks, NAPA, Autozone, etc....If online, you can try http://www.factory-servicemanual.com

Hope this helps.

Any advice on finding and fixing the source of interior water leaks on 2004 acura mdx?

That all depends on where the leak is. On the passenger side floor, could be heater core or A/C condensate leak.

Near the bottoms of the doors, could be plugged up drain holes on the bottom of the door.

Window seals.|||A garden hose and pour water on the car while someone is inside. Glass, trunk lid, cowl. Fixing is resealing the glass or maybe changing trunk lid seals good luck

Acura MDX (2001) Airbag computer location and removal tips?

I need to remove this to get it reset (airbags deployed) but dont know where it is mounted. Also, where is the front crash sensor mounted.

Are there airbag sensors on the front seat belts? They seem to be locked|||ah a do it your self project u buy the car wrecked

my advice if you don't know don't try and fix it. because you need a license for srs repair. if the air bag went off and you sold the car later law Suite. its like checking a loaded gun by pressing it to your head and pulling the trigger. will need to replace the bag the sensors and srs main unit should be in the dash in the center behind the stereo if not shure follow the wires from the bag to the unit. my integra has 4 main srs units you will have more lol. you missed a step chances are the bag will go off out of no where causing crash or fatality. also state patrol has to pass the final inspection. i need to know what air bag was it? if it was side the sensors are in the doors. the seat belts should not be locked up check for bindings in the seat belt gear from the wreck. if it is bound up then most likley they would be cut to get the person out |||best to have dealer repair srs system, even static electric from your hands can set off airbags.

My 2006 Acura MDX requires me to use Plus gasoline. Will I harm the engine, if I use regular gasoline?

Probably not. All modern cars will work just fine on regular. Higher octance gasoline is needed to prevent 'knock' in high compression engines. But.... all cars made since the mid 1990's have computer controlled ignitions, which advance the spark until the engine starts to knock and then back off a little. So.... if it is working properly, your engine can't knock, even with low octane juice. The only effect you might have is a very small lost of power at low RPMS and may a very, very slight reduction in mileage, as the ignition may be retarded by the computer to accomodate the low octane fuel, but no damage will result.|||Kinda eventually.|||Maybe, maybe not, what you will do though, is void your waranty. If you do cause any damage, the mfr will not repair under waranty for not following the requirements laid out in the manual.|||You could actually. It won't happen right away though.

When you use too low of an octane rating you get what is called "knocking" and "pinging". What happens is that the fuel/air mixture will combust on it's own before the spark plug goes off, just from all the high temperature and pressures. This casues the piston to fight the explosion while it's still coming up. Not only can you do damge to the connecting rods, but you will lose power and fuel milage.

Does anyone recomend a 2009 Acura MDX?

i wanna buy a 2009 acura mdx but im afraid it wont be a good quality. can a buyer tell me if he/she recomends it for me please?|||Excellent SUV, but you can buy a similar SUV for a lot less if you get the Honda Pilot.|||I'm pretty sure EVERYONE who owns an Acura MDX, recommends them. They are class leaders in quality, power, reliability, safety and resale value. Personally, the MDX is a solid choice for your family SUV needs, as well as a very fun and capable vehicle to toss around in the corners. Basically, you get the best of both worlds.

So in short, yes, I would recommend it.|||I recommend all Acura's.

They are the luxury division of Honda.

They are ultra reliable, ultra luxurious, have great quality. Better than BMW, Jaguar, VW, and Mercedes Benz.

The MDX is a powerful and fast SUV that handles like a car. Very safe.

Acura's have the best bluetooth and in-car phone technology and the best voice recognition software and GPS.|||Yes I would recommend 2009 Acura MDX.

I was actually thinking to buy the 2009 MDX but i didn't the reason is i'm not a SUV guy and I bough the 2009 Acura TSX.

the Quality of any Acura is good, you don't have to worry about it and they all run good. I have been driving my 2009 TSX for about 8 months and It still in perfect shape in anyway.

Don't go with the RDX, it is a good car don't get me wrong. but it is a little too small for a SUV (my opinion). RDX is good for a female driver. MDX is good for anyone.

good luck and Have fun with it, if you are busying it :-)|||I LOVE my '09 MDX sport!! It's quality is unsurpassed, looks are sharp, ride is smooth, it is such a great vehicle. I own 3 other Hondas, so I'm used to their quality/ reliability, but all my Hondas do not come close to the luxury in this car! All the materials are better compared to a Pilot, hence the price difference, yet it's still cheaper and bigger than a comparable BMW or MB. You won't go wrong with this car, I highly suggest it!|||I had two co-workers that had this vehicle and they were constantly taking their car to get service.|||A family member has the older version of the MDX and I really like that one better than the new ones today. They're bigger and more spacious

I've applied my brake several times to get my 2001 acura mdx out of park. The gear shift is stuck. Help.?

My gear shift wont get out of park. I keep applying the brake, but nothing. It wont move out of park. Im not on an incline or anything. And where is the shift lock release on a 2001 acura mdx?|||call a radio program called "car talk", they seem to know a lot of things about cars, and all kinds.|||check your brake light switch, it might be connected to a solenoid that allows the gear selector to release.

Navigations system for 2004 acura mdx ?

I just bought a 2004 acura mdx. it does not have a navigation system. I was wondering that if there is any way i can buy a navigations sytem that would work with steering wheel controls and would still have the car information. it is a single disc currently

any help would be greatly apperciated. thanks in advance|||You know what, I just happen to own a 2004 Acura MDX. It is loaded with everything BUT a navigation system. I chose not to get a navigation system because of its cost, and its lack of portability. I was wondering, did you buy your MDX used? Because if you did, I don't think you should get a built in Navigation, because it would cost even more than the factory unit you get from Acura, and be nearly equivalent to 1/6 of your entire cars cost. I think you should get a portable NAV, because it costs less, and you get much more features from it. I bought a Nav for $800, and it is loaded with nearly every feature you can imagine. So I suggest you think this over. If you are a complete executive, and travel all over the place, and get cell phone calls every other minute, then you could consider this expensive option. Otherwise, just stick with the low costing portable GPS.|||sounds like an expensive request. best bet might be a place that specializes in custom car audio/video, etc.

How do i program my keyless entry remote to my 2005 acura mdx

i bought a new keyless entry remote for my 2005 acura mdx and now i dont know how to program it to my car.|||I have a SAAB and the transponder was acting up. Try turning the key on and while it's on without starting the car press one of your security buttons on the remote.

My 2001 acura mdx has on the radio CD Error Code ErE1?

i disconnected the battery but still have the error ne ideas on what i can do about this.|||Dee, Did you enter your radio code? If not, do so, then try it again, it should work. If not, you'll need to go to Acura.

Edit: unplug the battery again for 30 seconds, then re-enter the code... it should work.|||THANK YOU!!! This worked for me--after trying several other methods (like "hit it hard") I had three discs in, two that were burned and one with a label from the library (best to use only commercially pressed cd's with no labels, now i know.) Made sure I had the code first! Anyway, thanks so much!

|||have your honda/acura dealer look into it. since this is an ERROR code, there may be an issue within the stereo itself. if they decide a new one is the fix, weigh out the cost of the original versus an aftermarket unit.|||take it to the dealer. Either that, or buy an aftermarket head unit.

My 2002 Acura MDx vibrates when I go 15-25mph. Do you know what might be wrong?

I feel the vibration in the front of the car. It does it sometimes.|||have your tires rebalanced|||At low speeds like that i doubt your tires need to be balanced. You probably have a bad tire. It could be feathered from alignment issues or your suspension components could be ruining the tires. (I.E. Weak struts). I would take it to a shop and check the tires see if they are feathered or possibly a separation in the tire. Also have them perform an alignment so they can shake down the front end to check for bad wheel bearing or tie rod ends. They could also throw the tires on the balance machine to see if the rim is bent or the tire is bad. Hope this helps!|||resurface rotors. if its never been done after time the brake dust builds up and cause uneven wear on pads and cause shakes(shimmys)|||Alignment issue?|||you might try to check out your axles. see if there are any rips or torn.|||))) May be road is bad?

Can someone explain the active damper system in the acura mdx?

It uses electronic waves and special fluid. The more waves it sends the thicker the fluid. The less it sends the thinner. Its hard to explain.

Which is better, the Lexus RX 350 or the new Acura MDX?

I am trying to decide between the two cars.|||Utility

There's no obvious winner between the Lexus and the MDX in terms of transporting cargo. Drivers with frequent child-duty might favor the Acura over the Lexus RX 350. Towing is markedly more the Acura MDX's forte than it is the Lexus RX 350's.

Dimensions

The Acura MDX is a little heavier than the Lexus. The Lexus RX 350's tank is roughly the same size as the Acura's, though the Acura MDX's is a tad bigger. The Lexus RX 350 and the MDX compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience

You'll most definitely take the Acura MDX for a fill-up roughly as often as the Lexus RX 350.

Cost

The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Acura MDX to the dealership as the Lexus RX 350. The Acura MDX doesn't pale in comparison to the RX 350 regarding fuel economy. There isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Lexus RX 350 is a tad more economical than the Acura MDX. With respect to MSRP, the Acura costs approximately as much as the Lexus (though the Lexus is a bit cheaper). The Acura isn't much less costly than the Lexus as far as final cost.

Handling

The MDX and the RX 350 have roughly similar tires. With their comparable turning circles, the Lexus RX 350 and the Acura MDX indubitably handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain

The Acura MDX has no lessons to learn as far as torque from the Lexus RX 350.

Comfort

While the front cabin in the Lexus offers a bit more head room than the Acura MDX, there honestly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Acura MDX offers a bit more head- and leg-room than the Lexus RX 350, there really isn't much of a difference.

Overview

The Lexus RX 350 and the Acura MDX have the same basic after-sale protection.|||It depends on what you're looking for. Both are great luxury SUVs. The main differences are:

The RX seats 5 people. The MDX has a third-row seat that can technically seat 7. However, the third row is small, so it'll be comfortable only for kids or very tiny adults. If the third-row is important to you, this alone eliminates the RX.

The RX is slightly smaller than the MDX. The MDX is three-inches longer and a fairly significant six-inches wider.

The RX is currently in its 5th year of the current design. This usually means that most of the bugs have been worked out and the reliability of the design is fairly proven. The MDX is in the first year of it's current design, introduced for the 2007 model year. While there's no reason to believe the MDX will be less reliable, brand new designs usually carry some uncertainty until proven.

The trade-off for the RX being in its 5th year is that it's soon to be redesigned. If you're someone who can't stand buying a car and seeing a redesigned model the next year, you may want to wait.

The next generation RX is expected to be bolder in design with a boost in luxury and sport characteristics. An extended length version is also expected, which will provide room for a third-row seat like the MDX. The new model is expected in the spring of 2008.|||are you kidding me ?

Acura MDX is far better , is not even a question

Is the Acura MDX a good choice for a six-person family?

Is it a good car to own?|||I would think it would be a little small for a family of six. Try taking a look at a Lincoln Navigator or a Ford Expedition and see how they compare for interior room.|||It sure is. One of the best crossover SUV's.|||well, it seats 7... but 2 are 3rd row seats which means you will have minimal trunck room, unless 3 sit in the 2nd row and 1 in the 3rd. it is a good car, but a minivan would be more ideal. More trunk room, and alot more comfortable seating.|||No its too small. The 3rd row seats on mid sized SUV's are baby sized. Look into a full size SUV like a Suburban or Expedition.

That's a great review Wandering Gnome. Perhaps getting an opinion from a car expert instead of a money expert would be better though.|||dont listen to anyone who wants u to get a american car

try a honda pilot if u want space and itll last forever|||A minivan would be a better choice.|||It's too small for 6, even though it can seat that many. The third row is really only good for short trips. you're probably better off with a minivan. The Honda Odessy is pretty good.|||It is definitiley good for the larger families. just look at this review:

Where can i find the auxiliary input in my Acura MDX 2007 (with Navigation system)? unclear in manual?

On the manual it says that it is found inside the main console, but when I check, there is just a plug input.|||do you mean the ipod music link adaptor? If you do, that is something that you need to purchase as part of an entertainment package. It doesn't just come with the car. If yours has it, it is in the center console/arm rest thing where the hidden lighter adaptor thing is. it is just a cable you hook in to your ipod. otherwise the aux in put is on the dash board. reading some info from acura help groups it appears you need a splitter that goes from your ipod phone jack to split into left and right rca jacks.

On the manual it says that it is found inside the main console, but when I check, there is just a plug input.|||I'm having the same exact problem. I got an IPOD Nano and want to use but, but just using the regular cigarete lighter plug in sounds horrible. I went through the manual and there is nothing. I have the same 110v plug in my console as you. Argh! If you find out, let me know. I tried to call Acura service but they are already closed.|||mine just plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Do I need 2 sets of tire chains for a 2006 Acura MDX or is 1 set enough?

I live in southern california and plan to go to Mountain High (located in Wrightwood, CA). I read that in general, AWD should use 2 sets of chains... is this true for the MDX?|||One set on the front is sufficient.|||You don't need chains if your car is AWD, at least that's what people up in big bear told me.

But if you are going to put them on anyways.. I'd go for 2 sets cause it's AWD.|||Tire chains? What is this..1960? Get snow tires if you need them. All MDXs are AWD. I have 2 sets of rims for my car (summer tires, snow tires) but you should be able to get away with decent all seasons unless youll be driving in a lot of snow/ice/temps below 45 degrees.|||You need chains on all fur wheels. Not so much for traction wile moving but to prevent the vehicle from spinning when you brake.|||Its primarily a FRONT wheel drive vehicle, FRONT only.|||yes

Compatible subwoofer for my 2001 Acura MDX?

Hi, I am in need for a new 10" subwoofer for my 2001 Acura MDX to replace my stock bose system which isnt doing the job anymore. I was wondering if there was and 10" Subwoofers that are compatable with the original format and do not require any amps or new wiring?|||This one is the best.

Alpine Type-R SWR-M100 - Marine subwoofer driver - 300 Watt - 10"

Technical Details

* No sound system is complete without the perfect sub for complimentary bass

* Don't deprive your boat from the absolute best sound you can get

* High excursion capabilities mean deep

* High-output bass for great on-water performance|||Assuming that the car comes with an external amp (it does if it was powering a stock subwoofer) than you need to try and find out how many watts of power the amp puts out. Considering its a stock option the amp is probably only put out 200 or 300 watts. Pick a subwoofer that matches that rating (pay attention to the rms rating, not the peak rating). If the sub is in a seperate box you can try to find subs that will if the box or you can get an enclosed subwoofer that will come in a box. If your subwoofer is installed into the car (ex: under the storage space in back, In the side of the car, under the rear seats) then you should measure the space you have and look for a component subwoofer that will fit there.|||If the system in your Acura isn't doing the job anymore, I'm afraid you may need a hearing aid. Sorry- the damage is permanent. Nothing aftermarket is going to match your factory equipment. You can replace it all. I don't think it's funny either. Make an appointment with an audiologist. I hope I'm wrong for your sake, but I think we're getting a new deaf generation.

What is acura mdx tech package 2008 wholesale price?

Does being sport / tech / ent package matter in wholesale... Kellys Blue Book does not have used car price for 2008 yet, when will this get posted on their site|||what ??? what wholesale prices are you talking about ??? Acura doesn't wholesale anything...and 'packages' on cars don't matter in the 'resale' price of a car...if you you have add-on's it's your dime and not anyone elses...

How can I remove my check engine light from my Acura MDX?

Will the 2010 Acura MDX have a body re-design?

Cost to repair a dented Acura MDX?

I think it is an MDX, but my uncle checked the dealership and the car is about 40K. The dent is on the front driver's door, about the size of a hand. It is not that deep and quite unnoticeable, but it is still a big dent. Backed up into that car. My mom is scared shitless.|||Probably a couple hundred if the paint is still okay. Call your local body shop for a quote.|||try posting on the new site called bidfix, it's for people that need something fix; you can put what you need done or what the problem is and let people/companies in your area bid on fixing it so you get a good estimate and maybe a cheap fix!

Is a 2005 or 2006 Acura MDX a good vehicle?

I need to get a new vehicle,,,, my 2001 Odyessy is getting near the end. I keep my vehicles to at least 200,000 miles but this one I have to buy used.... I'm thinking of a used 2005 or 6 MDX with about 80,000 miles on it. Anything I should look out for?|||No, the MDX is an unreliable, unsafe, poorly rated vehicle.

Don't see why you'd buy one.|||Acura is a good vehicle. With any used car you need to pay attention to how well the previus owner maintained the car. If you are unsure then take it to a professional mechanic for a complete pre purchase inspection.|||Yes

How long do Acura MDX last?

I was looking at a 2002 Acura MDX Touring. Everything about it is really good, but the mileage. Is 122,830 okay? How long would an Acura last?

Thanks in advance to everyone|||Any well maintained Honda (Acura) will virtually last forever. All well/decently maintained Honda's have been known to last on average 250 000 before it starts giving out.

Now that 2002 MDX, you didn't give much information. Was the timing belt + water pump changed? Is the oil changed every 3 months or 5000km (whichever comes first). When was the last time the transmission fluid was changed? Hopefully annually. Is 122 830 highway driven mileage or rush hour mileage? Is it grandma driven? or 16 year old l ead footed driven? Etc. (many many factors)

As you can see, as long as that MDX is well maintaned, worst case scenerio, it'll give at 220 000km when the engine dies out. Best case scenerio, 400 000km+ (all preventative maintainences done on time)

Though I cannot give you a definitive answer, I can say this MDX has potential to live a very long time.

2004 Acura MDX wont start after heavy rain driving. Looks dead, no click no radio or lights etc. suggestions?

can you give some more info; has this been wrecked? was this a 'Katrina" salvage vehicle? what do you do to get it going after it fails to start?

How do I hook up my Ipod in my 2008 Acura MDX with the tech package (but not the entertainment package).?

Inside the center console, (the place where you rest your right arm), there is a port labeled AUX. You plug one end of the appropriate chord into the ipod, and the other into the AUX port in the console. Once you have done that, power up the radio and press the AUX button on the dash cluster. It should be near buttons such as AM/FM, XM, CD, etc. Then you are good search for a song on your ipod and it will play through the cars' speakers.|||The armrest has a little port (towards the front) and you can connect your ipod to it. You first must buy a 3.5 mm (male to male) AUX cable http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Ret鈥?/a> Once you have that, just put it into the headphone jack and the outlet in the armrest, and there you go.

What CD's will work in ACURA MDX?

I want to burn cd's and i dont know which kind of blank cd to buy. The car is an Acura MDX 2003 and has the 6 CD changer.

I am asking because i bought some blank cds before and they didnt work in the acura but they worked in other cars, so please help!

Thanks!|||2003 Acura's can't read any burnt CD's.|||when I had my 2000 CL, I had an issue with a cd getting stuck in it. and I wastold that I could use any type of cd,but not the re-writable kind.and i was told to only use a sharpie pen to label it. no stickers that are applied.

EDIT: my 2000 CL and my 2004 TL both read burned CD. the only one it is not recommend to read by the manufacturer is the CD RW, the re-writeable ones. was told this directly from the dealership after having one stuck inside the CD player.

Where is the A/C relay in a 2007 Acura MDX?

Does anyone know the location of the MDX's A/C relay? Or, where are they usually located in other cars? Thanks!|||If it works at all, it's highly unlikely that it's the relay. A relay is a "go, no-go" item. It either works or it does not.

Which do you think is better for a mom with kids? The Lexus RX350AWD or the new 2007 Acura MDX?

I have norrowed it down to these two models. I'll be buying mid 2007.|||The RX350 has 270hp and gets 24mpg hwy.

The MDX has 300hp and gets 22mpg hwy.

The MDX has a third row seat, RX does not.

The MDX has about 40% more passenger volume.

The RX has slightly more cargo volume.

The MDX has GPS with real-time traffic (3 months free then montly fees required), RX does not.

The RX is slightly more expensive equipped similarly but can be bought right now at $6-7k discount. You'll have to pay MSRP for the MDX possibly for the next 2 years.|||CALL TODD MINETTE AT LEXUS OF WESTMINSTER FOR THE BEST DEAL ON THE LEXUS......WESTMINSETR CALIF. HE SHIPS ALL OVER THE USA

Acura MDX Ambient Lighting and Opinion?

Does anyone have a picture they could put in there answer of the 2008 Acura MDX ambient lighting? What is your opinion of it? Also, anyone have a 2007-2008 MDX? Do you like it?

Thanks!|||well, its a soft blue single led the shines the cabin. many times its unnoticeable, but when u do cover the light up, u can tell that the light really does help.|||I would say exactly that . . . our RDX you can barley see them but if they are covered up you can see the difference..

It is certainly nothing that you could show your friends, which is kind of what they sound like. Many cars actually do do that now, but they are not something cool, just practical because it shines lightly for looking for phones, etc w/o turning lights on.

Our 01 MDX is nice and has lasted.

How do i fix the automatic feature on my acura mdx?

the automatic feature of the windshield wipers in my 2005 acura mdx stopped working i assume it is the fuse it says there is a fuse for it in the manual and there is also a diagram next to one of the 4 fuse boxes that i have found that says automatic windshield wiper fuse and there is supposed to be a 5th box with only 3 fuses that has what i am looking for but i cannot find it|||You could always take it to a mechanic or Acura.

Can someone give me a convincing arguement on why the Acura MDX is better than the Toyota Highlander?

As someone who very seriously considered buying those two vehicles (among many others), I have to say the MDX wins in luxury but there's little there that you can't option out on a Toyota Highlander. When it came down to it for me, I opted for the 2009 Honda Pilot Touring. (I take delivery later this week.) The Highlander's seats don't fold flat enough and leave gaps for things to fall between. The engine is sufficient but the MDX has more pep (though is, by no means, a quick vehicle). The MDX wins in the headlamp department because you can't beat Xenons. But the Highlander has more usable space. For some reason, they made the new MDX smaller. I find that counterintuitive. Then there's the layout of the dash -- MDX wins big time. The Toyota is going to be more reliable but the Acura shouldn't be too far behind. Hondas are better, though. I know they're theoretically the same but in my experience with a multitude of Acuras, things just aren't the same.

In the end: it's a matter of taste. Weigh the options carefully. You WILL be satisfied with a Toyota Highlander. You MAY be satisfied with an MDX.|||better vvt technology and more fuel economy

The comfort of the ride and the control you have in the mdx will not even be close to the toyot and the mdx is laid out much better than the toyot. The reliability of acura has passed toyota and infiniti and the perfomance is not even close on the toyot. The seating is much better (comfort) The base car comes with memory seats, moonroof, tri zone climate control, 6 disc in dash cd, aux jack for mp3 player, power driver and passenger seat w power lumbar ion drivers side. all mdx's come with tire pressure monitoring system and maintence minders to let you know when maintenance is needed. Does the 2010 Acura MDX come with a twin turbo option?

My brother said it does but i cant find any information on it on the internet, nor have i ever heard of it coming with those options.|||No, it has never had a twin turbo engine.|||The RDX has the turbo 4 cylinder. The MDX has the v6. Mabye you confused the two?|||No. It's a naturally aspirated engine.

Do I need to put 91 Octane or above in my 2009 Acura MDX?

The dealer said I do, but can I get away at least with 89 Octane?|||This is what my Acura dealer said last year when I bought my '09 MDX sport, "You paid for 300 horses, so if you want to experience that, use premium." They said you *could* put regular in, but you'll see a decrease in power and MPG. Use premium...It's only a couple bucks more per fill up.

JetDoc - The '09 MDX engine is actually a little different than what you linked to. The '09 has a compression ratio of 11.0:1, which most definitely needs premium still. They tweaked the engine for the 2010MY :)

http://www.acura.com/Engine.aspx?model=M鈥?/a>|||I would stick with 91 or above octane, especially in an MDX.They be pretty high tech, motors got compensator's here there and everywhere. You go below 91,these compensator's are going,to be

difference between the two..Sure if you can afford MDX,you can afford to get good fuel for it.

The very best of luck to you.Be well, happy %26amp; safe.|||Note RE Pablo's Answer Related to Octane Not Important to Power Output...

That's not true. Higher octane fuel prevents detonation / pre-ignition. This comes into play with high compression, normaly aspirated and forced induction (i.e., supercharged %26amp; turbocharged) engines. It also becomes an issue under high ambient temperatures.

Modern engine control modules working in concert with an engine's 'knock sensor' will adjust to retard the ignition timing when a detonation condition arises, this to avoid damage to the motor. And so it's this design configuration that reduces power output when lower octane fuels are used in particularly high compression engines such as with Honda's J35 %26amp; J37 motors found in the MDX.

Therefore, running 87 octane will reduce horsepower in the MDX, and the motor may seem a bit sluggish, though losses could be imperceptible depending upon your driving habits. Best to stick with the specified 91 octane fuel whenever possible.|||There are very few automobiles sold in the USA today that actually require premium grade gasoline. Unfortunately, your's is one of them. The MDX engine has a 11.2:1 compression ratio that needs the higher octane fuel to run properly.|||You could opt for a lower grade if you're okay with messing with the valvetrain over time. come on man, you spent good money for that MDX, are you saying you can't afford to pony up an extra 10-20 cents per gallon?|||As in any very expensive luxury car, only use the highest octane possible. And never buy gas from something like 'Pop's Gas' Should you not, you are going to build up so much sludge on your valves it'll run like a Smart Car!!|||If theres a sticker in the fuel door that says PREMIUM GASOLINE ONLY or something similar, it needs higher than 87, in my personal experience, 89 has always been fine.|||Octane rating won't harm or help your car either way. You will be fine to use either type in.

Why? Becuase all octane does is tweak the point of ignition for the air/fuel mixture.

MYTH: Higher octane give me better gas milage

FACT: Using lower octane rated fuel in a car that is designed for higher octane AND HAS KNOCK SENSORS will seem like it's getting worse gas mileage because the lower octane fuel will make the car retard it's timing to compensate. This translates to less mileage, as you are going to push the pedal a little farther to get the same effect. It's not burning more gas, you're just using more gas.

MYTH: I get more power with high octane

FACT: Same as above, really. When you use the proper octane rated fuel for your car, your car will be running at optimum timing and delivery, etc, seeming like a boost in power. In reality, you're just not pushing the pedal as far to get the same performance as a lower octane. It's not the gas that's causing the lag, it's the computer, and you.

This said, it doesn't matter one bit which octane you use, as far as harming the car goes. Make sense?

I just bought my car, an 06 Acura MDX, and it already needs major work.... Cant they just give me another car?

They say that they can't give me a new car even though i bought it a week ago and it already needs major work.|||I would think so. If you bugged the crap out of the salesman. When I got my car, the dealership was super worried about this customer satisfaction survey (It was from Chevrolet). They were very adamant about me giving them a chance to fix any problems before I filled this survey out. If I had told them that I wanted a new car, or I was going to fill out this survey with all bad remarks, I'm sure they would have given me another.

I would call them and demand they give me a new one. Threaten to not buy the car (I don't know if you can do this or not, but It just may work) If the salesman won't listen, ask to talk to his supervisor. Find out who owns the dealership and ask to speak with him directly. Tell them your frustrations. Tell them you're going to write an editorial to your local newspaper and tell everyone about your bad experience.|||DId you ruin it or did you buy it like that? If you ruined it no if it was their default yes|||my friend just got the same car for graduation and she has warrenty so you should to|||Standard lemon laws say that the identical problem has to happen at least 3 times to be eligible for replacement.

I have a 2004 Acura MDX. Lately when I put gas in, the pump clicks off as though the tank is full. ?

I don't know what's happening but it drives me nuts not to be able to fill my tank. Has anyone else had this problem? Can you please give me some insight as to what's going on? The dealership thinks there is no problem because it happened to work the one time I took it in for them to check it out. Thank you!|||Pull the gas nozzle out a little. Air from the tank is escaping while gas is going in. My pick up truck does the same thing. I just pull the nozzle out about 1/2 inch, and pump it slower, to allow the fumes to escape.

Does the GPS (navigation unit) in a 2007 MDX Acura bought in the United States work in Canada?

Can the navigation system in the MDX purchased in the United States be programmed to work in Canada...ie while on holidays etc? If not why not. Please reply asap...thank you|||GPS is a worldwide thing, so it should work in canada. However, some systems require you to purchase different maps in different regions. Check to see if this is the case.|||the navigation systems bought in the USA work in north america. the navigation systems go by continents. but it might not work in some areas in canada. read the manual for more information.|||The navigation system will only work in ceartain parts of Canada. As you zoom out you will see the parts covered.|||If you stay within 20 - 25 miles of the US border, (which is where 95% of all Canadians live) you will be fine.

Does a 2003 Acura MDX have good A/C and Heat?

I have a Dodge truck and the A/c and heat are terrible. i asked a couple of other people that own dodge trucks and theres are newer than mine and they said there a/c and heat isnt that good either. Are all Dodges like that?

I want to know that the MDX blows strong air and heat and its really ice cold and really hot before i buy it....|||I had a leased 2004 for 3 years and never had any problems with AC or heat and I'm a "hot" person. 60 degrees outside and my AC is on. I live in northeast and it's been fine. As for hot, if you get the heated seats, in combination with heater, it's fine for most people. If you're not a frigid person, the heat will be fine.|||go to dealership and c for urself|||I know what you mean. I also like a good air conditioner and a really hot heater.

The Acura is basically a Honda that you pay much more for to have the name. I have had 3 Honda's and both the heat and the air has been marginal in all three - not happy at all.

I had a Ford Van which was awesome. Also a Jeep (made by Dodge) and it was great. The Jeep got totaled and I got another. But the new one is not as good as the old one. They can vary in individual cars. The heat is controlled by a thermostat and you could experiment with different temperature thermostats, and today's engines are tuned to run at a certain temperature, so it may not be wise to change it.

Also, the newer refrigerants are not as cold as the old ones, which were banned due to ozone damage.|||Yes it does. Acura is made by Honda so you know it is reliable. It depends if it is good condition if not it might have bad a/c or heat. Also is it cheap? If it is, it had some problems. I had Honda's and they are great cars. Dodges i don't really know about it. But the problem is about the MDX is that you will be paying to much for insurance and gas. (MDX uses 93 octane)|||Yes.

You can set the temperature in the car.

You can make it 50 degrees or 90 degress in the car.

It is an Acura, which is a premium brand like Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, Audi, Infiniti, Jaguar, and Lexus.

2008 acura mdx: Is it timing belt or chain? I'm using 94 octane but sometimes i used 91 octane gas is that ok?

I mean would that ruin the engine?|||The MDX has a timing belt, and using a lower grade fuel is fine...but you won't get all the horsepower you paid for.|||belt most likey and you can use any fuel made

its how many miles you get using it

high octane is only recomended octane and since each brand of fuel is different you as drive needs to know which fuels your car need to get best fuel mileage

you test a few octanes starting with place you like to stop most fil up with highest octane set mileage drive it til you need to refill same place use next lower octane and one that gtes you best mileage is right one to use at that place only

its like say my nissan gets great mileage with shell high octane but sam mileage with mobil regular

lower the octane wil just get you less mileage sometimes and some times there is no different

you as driver has to test to see which your car wants or needs its not what it cost you its how many miles you get using it and they dont make a gasoline fuel that you cant use just some will get you better mileage than others

an dyou don tneed to worry about timing belt of chain for a few more years 100,000 or longer|||Most all Acura's I have seen had a timing belt.

My Accura manual recommends premium fuel, but it is multi-octane rated. So -it will run on regular, mid-grade, or premium.

Octane has nothing to what so ever with gas mileage, no way-no how.|||Chain. Using 91 sometimes will not hurt the engine.|||Its Timing Belt, its fine for the gas....no it wont ruin the engine.

Whats the best intake for my SUV I drive a Acura Mdx?

Im trying to buy a intake for my truck but dont know which to buy. Im willing to spend up to $250 dollars|||People usually put a new intake on their SUVs in order to get more horsepower for towing or going faster. I would not consider an MDX a performance SUV. I would think that it already has enough horsepower for what it was designed for. Therefore, I would not recommend buying any intake. Some states also regulate intakes as part of emissions laws.|||K%26amp;N|||I say go with the K%26amp;N intake. That's the most powerful and will give you more horsepower..

Should I buy a 2006 Acura MDX now when they have the marketing support or buy it next year?

How much does it cost to replace a timing belt on a 2003 Acura MDX?

sure you can low ball the belt job with a 60.00 belt and a 70.00 hand grenade type tensioner and pay 3.7 hours labor at your local rate [this vehicle is nine yrs old] you should also consider the water pump the tension roller and idler pulley, as well as possible cam and crank seals.

any one of the other components listed can fail causing the new belt to break and valves to be bent.

doing the complete job will cost approx. 600 - 800 dollars. a cylinder head job will be in the ballpark of 1800 -2200 dollars|||The basic job is about $350-$450 where I live, but with water pump and new accessory belts (always a good idea, although the belts are more optional than the water pump) it jumps to the $600-$800 range. Adding a tensioner to the list makes the price jump about $300!?!

Is the failure of Acura MDX transmissions an anomaly or systemic issue?

Personally, I have not seen too many MDXs have an issue. We have a transmission to put in one this week but that is the first one I have seen in several months. The factory-installed one is a single flip-down in the ceiling. I've seen headrests you can buy with DVD screens in them. 2 screens seem better than 1 but will after-market screens be lower quality?|||The MDX Nav system is really nice. The after markets will be cheaper but most of them just don't integrate well with you existing stereo and voice command.

Shell out the extra dough and get the Acura.

If the car is a lease for less than 2 or 3 years than buy the aftermarket so you can take it with you.

If you want him to value hard work and experience living in the real world, you would be smart and buy him a $5,000 car and make him pay for the gas, maintenance and insurance with a after-school job.|||It's a great car but i would suggest buying him something a little bit older than that because that is a pretty great deal of money that you are going to be spending on the car itself and also the insurance considering it's a luxury sports car and he is a boy.|||Yes it's a great car, but I would suggest a Volvo XC90 over it... also you might want to get your son a cheaper car to get used to driving before you go off buying him an Acura. I started on a Chevrolet and now I'm driving a Lotus.|||No. Kids wreck cars why would you buy him something pretty new and expensive. By the time he hits 18 he will probably have been in at least 1 accident and trashed anything he has been driving even if it wasn't damaged in 1 of those accidents.|||It is a great car. It is very safe and has the ACE body structure. As long as you make him promise never to get a scratch of his own doing on it, it should be great.|||If you want to spend lots of money on an ugly car, then yes. Is the Acura MDX expensive to maintain?

I'm thinking about buying a 2007 or 2008 Acura MDX but I want to make sure it's not going to cost a fortune to maintain. Like are oil changes going to be more than the standard $30-$40? Are the tires a special size or similar to other standard suv's? Also, are there any regular problems this vehicle is known for having? I'm also considering 2009 or 2010 Mazda CX-7. Any input on these would be great!|||We've been seeing a lot of recalls, potential defects, and investigations on the CX-7 lately. Being a fairly new production vehicle (came into existence 2007), there still seem to be some bugs. The MDX has been around since 2001, and we don't sell many parts for them.|||No, in fact it is great to maintain. The tires and oil changes are all standard and it would be better than a Mazda. After all, you are paying what you get for. :D

Is a 2003 Acura MDX expensive to maintain?

My brother used to have a 2003 TLS and I know that car used to cost about 200 to maintain when ever he took it in for anything.

How much does typical maintenance cost for an 2001-2005 MDX?|||Maintenance is mostly routine, and isn't expensive when done at mechanics. It would wind up around 100-150 dollars for most routine maintenance on the car at mechanics. Dealership will charge more obviously, so its best to avoid that.

I would strongly recommend staying away from this car. Maintenance is one thing, but breakdowns are another. This particular year range, from 2001-2006, the MDX's have a huge knack of transmission failures. People have reported transmissions having replaced more than one time, and it is not common for people to have replaced transmissions even 3 times!

The failures happen 70% on 2001-2003 models, due to their transmission not being revised. 2004-2006 models still experience failures, although it is mainly the torque converter, although the failures are not as common as the 2001-2003 models, due to the slightly improved transmission design.

In Edmunds.com, I actually started a thread concerning this issue around 2 years back, because, as an owner of a 2004 MDX, I was concerned if this problem would occur in my car. As of today, there are over 300 responses of owners complaining of transmission failures. Probably, soon there will be a class action against Honda/Acura. (Honda is concerned here also, because this exact issue affects Honda Odyssey, and Honda Pilot, and V-6 Honda Accords)

Most dealerships only cover partial cost of the transmission when it fails. The full cost winds up to be $5,000 dollars. Very rarely the dealer has covered the full cost for these cars.

Based on these things, I would stay away from the 2003 MDX. You should try to opt for a newer 2007 plus model, which has a fully newly revised transmission, which is reliable, just like a Honda and Acura is supposed to be :).

The thread which I started for these complaints is in this link:

Acura mdx 02..engine turns off and steering wheel locks while driving. What is the cause?

The car engine completly turns off and steering wheel locks. I have to put it in park then restart the car. It wasn't a gas issue, my tank was full.|||I doubt the steering wheel locks, its just hard to turn because there is no power steering.

It could be a fuel related problem. Do you have and engine codes? It's kind of hard to diagnose on here unless you give us some more information.

Acura MDX?

I have sat in one in the auto show, do you think it's in good shape?|||My mom has a 2004 MDX. It's pretty nice. The new ones are even nicer though.|||i dont really understand this question. Asking " do you think its in good shape" implies you want to know the condition of a specific car, not a specific model of car. The new model of the Acura MDX is going quite well, we build over 200 a shift and for the first year of a major model change things are pretty good. The new model adds quite a few goodies over the previous model. I personally dont like the exterior styling, but after driving these at work every day i will say they are an excellent choice for a luxury SUV. A lot of people are liking the new model. Acura posted December sales at 6227 for the MDX up 17.19% from the year before. The price did increase over the 2006 model, but you now get lots more, inlcuding more HP check out www.acura.com|||I work at an Acura dealer. 74k's.

Good care has been provided for ths vehicle.

What do you think is this car worth 17,900? (without navigation system) But again, it's a very clean car,.

Is 74 K alot for acura mdx? "6 cilynders" of course :)

Oil change has been performed every 3-4k's ( I checked carfax)

Thank you.|||Mostly good answers. However, lots of folks ask about Honda/Acura transmission problems. Honda lost a class action lawsuit applying to problem AT transmissions during 1998 - 2002 (and a handful of 2003 CL/TL models). Interestingly, these transmissions were co-built by General Motors (at least the J30A models were). Honda has remedied the problem, and they do not have any trends going that indicate problem transmissions, especially with the newer models.

The MDX is a superb car that's won accolades. A Honda(Acura) with 74K that 's been well cared for is in one respect, just 'broken in'. Example: I have an '00 V6 Accord w. 94K that looks/drives practically new.

$17.9k doesn't seem high for the MDX...weigh it against what a new one costs (high $40s'+). More important, it's about what fits your budget!

Another option is to buy from a reputable dealer where you get an extended warranty.|||One thing about carfax is that it still won't show you some information especially if the previous owners never reported it to their insurance. So the car could of been in a bunch of wrecks but never got reported and if they do it doesn't say how intensive it was.

74k for a 04 Acura MDX is too much. It's a buyers market, you can bargain for less.|||Go to http://www.kbb.com/kbb/UsedCars/default.鈥?/a> and enter the data to see what the car is really worth. Also, go to http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/ where you can research service bulletins, recalls and complaints on the 04 MDX|||It sounds like you are thinking about buying this car. If so, you need to ask yourself if you want to buy a car with 74,000 miles and pay 17,900? This is high mileage for a 2004, so you need to factor that into the equation. How long do you intend to keep the car and how many miles per year will you be driving? When a car hits 80,000 miles, it gets a bid hit on depreciation. When it hits 90,000 miles, it gets another big hit. After 100,000 miles it have very little value. This is exaggerated for luxury vehicles, since there are lots of things that can go wrong. Also, people who buy luxury cars, want the luxury of peace of mind. A 100,000 mile car will not give you this.

My recommendation is to go for a 40,000-50,000 mile car and pay about $2,000 - $3,000 more. It would be a shame to spend this much money on a car, then have it depreciate like crazy over the next two - three years.

Greg|||I would not buy an MDX at all. They commonly have transmission problems. It's not rare to see one require a tranny rebuild after 40k miles or so. Also, realize that you should be expecting some expensive scheduled maintenances coming up soon at 100k; timing belt and water pump. Can be a couple grand to have done at the dealer, and at least $1000 anywhere else. Just buy a new car that you can afford. Don't mess with used cars. You're only buying someone else's problem.

If I were to choose I rather have the RDX. Not into suv's tho.|||A way overpriced Honda Pilot with a "Sport Package". If you want room, get the Mini Van, has way more Cubic Feet in cargo space than that, for less price and better gas mileage.

The so called SUVs are just a fad, they are like belly buttons, everybody has one :-))|||All SUV are absolute criminals... environmental terrorists. No one needs to drive the "SUV" vehicles. I would say less than 5% even see dirt.|||The 2008 Acura MDX is a good, family kind of vehicle. It is also rather sporty. However, price can seem to lead you away from it. You could have a much less flashy cousin of the MDX (the Honda Pilot) for much less.

I want to buy an '07 Acura MDX, but refuse to be forced into premium fuel. What are the risks of using regular

I like the new MDX, but do not want to be tied to premium fuel. Is there a way around this requirement to use premium gas?|||use regular gas at your peril.

Using regular gas can cause pre-detonation in the engine, which will make the engine run hotter and could eventually cause severe damage to the engine. Basically the octane in the fuel stops the fuel exploding prematurely, ie before the spark plug goes off. Using low octane fuel will burst into flames before the piston reaches the point of combustion, when the spark plug goes off.

You would be okay now and again but if you fill up with regular then dont go thrashing it.|||Again, if the manufacturer specifies premium fuel, use it - for optimum performance and fuel economy.

You can fill it up occasionally with the regular stuff, but you won't get as good engine performance and fuel efficiency.|||No. If it says it needs premium gas, you pretty much have to use it. The car needs the higher octane rating in the fuel.

I'm pretty sure it'll run on regular, but you will see engine problems. I'm not exactly sure of the consequences, but I do know that they're not good.

But many a times, if you can afford the car that takes the gas, you can probably afford the gas too. Sometimes just not "eating out" at that one restaurant a week can cover your gas expenses. Ask any college student: pizza... or gas... hmm... hah.

My two cents,

-Munki

Autotropolis.com|||So you're willing to shell out over 40k for a car and you won't even buy premium gas? That makes no sense. If you want something that takes regular, get something like a Pilot or CR-V.|||decreased fuel mileage and performance, definitely will be noticeable|||If it requires premium fuel that means it uses a higher octane reading. If you use a lower grade of fuel your computer will reset. Ultimately causing knocking in your engine, your fuel economy will alter and will not work as efficient.

I have heard that it is more probable to have engine sludge as well.

You can use a lower octane rated gas, however, these issues will become a negative factor in the life of your engine.

Have any of you had a customer with an Acura MDX that creeps forward with the transmission in neutral?

The guy says the surface has a rise of 2" in 100' so the car would roll backwards if it were a gravity driven problem...what do you think?

The guy who said Pilot, that is much less smooth looking and "edgy" in styling. It is also faster by I think around 50-60 horsepower (MDX is 300). The MDX has xenons, LEDs, autostick, etc. etc.

AND for the guy above the CR-V which came out in 98 was fully Honda, then the MDX, then the Pilot|||Do not do it, get the Honda Pilot instead. Is the same thing and is less.

Here is a clip from the Wikipedia...

"" The Honda Pilot is Honda's second SUV fully built and designed by Honda, released in the summer of 2002 for the 2003 model year. The Honda Pilot is built in Lincoln, Alabama and was built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada up until April 2007. The Pilot is now built exclusively at the Lincoln, Alabama plant. Honda's initial SUV offering for many years was the Passport, which was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo. Where the Passport was truck-based, it replaced the extended-wheelbase EX trim of the Passport. The Pilot shares underpinnings and the powertrain with the Acura MDX, which has a lineage which can be traced to the Honda Odyssey minivan. The Pilot鈥檚 unibody construction, however, is fortified with integrated perimeter frame rails, which helps it withstand light off-road use.

The Pilot was designed to fill a large American demand for SUVs. Prior to the introduction of the Pilot, Honda only had the smaller CR-V based on the Civic, and the aforementioned Passport. However, the CR-V lacked in features many American consumers looked for in an SUV, which are overall size, passenger space, and towing capacity. The Pilot is at most designed to withstand light-duty off-roading. The Pilot has been a best-seller for Honda, with Honda selling over 100,000 Pilots in 2004, an increase of almost 20% over 2003. The Pilot is sold in North America, while Japan and Australia get its relative, the Honda MDX instead. In the Middle East, the Pilot is sold as the Honda MR-V.""

Trading in acura mdx for honda civic hybrid, how much depreciation in $ will mdx have?

mdx is 3 months old with slight scratches at the rear door. driven for 2500 miles|||MDXs (unfortunately) do NOT hold up well in the books. If you only bought it 3 mo nths ago, you are likely well upside down too. did you put any cash down? did you trade in a car you were upside down on?

If you answered "no" to 1, and "yes" to 2, you are an owner for the long forseeable future

go to www.kbb.com - look up the TRADE IN value for your car - and evaluate it as being in average condition. then take $2000 off that and you will have approximately what your car is worth on trade.

EDIT - ah if it is a 2008, go to Edmunds.com and build an invoice for your car. Then deduct abouut 20% off invoice. That will get you close to the trade in value.

The problem with trading a current-year car is that the depreciation is greatest in the first year. As a buyer, there has to be a financial incentive to purchase a pre-owned 08 with 2500 miles and scratches. So, the resale value needs to be under current new value, therefore the big hit on first-year depreciation.

I know gas is high - but you will be taking a HUGE financial hit to sell out of the car now. The loss of value is biggest at this point.

Taking into account the difference in fuel economy, price of gas, and miles you drive, how long will it take you to break even, and recover the financial loss?

I have an Acura MDX and a Honda CRV. Would it benefit me to make them E85 compatible?

Are these cars already E85 compatible or would I have to modify them? Is it cost efficient to get E85 or just environmentally friendly? Do most gas stations have E85 fuel?|||I do not think your cars are compatable yet.

E85 is at least 85% grain alcohol and contains 15% or less gasoline.

Some of the newer cars that are designed to run on E85, include

Daimler Chrysler, Ford, General Motors,Isuzu, Mazda, Mercedes, Mercury, and Nissan if your car is not among these then you should not run E85 without converting first.

You can get conversion information at http://www.flextuneusa.com/?OVRAW=E-85%26amp;O鈥?/a>

Depending on where you are at it may be hard to find an E85 station. There are currently only 4 stations in the big state of California that carry it.

You cannot find it in the states of Vermont,New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Louisiana, Alaska, or Hawaii.

I hear you can get it pretty easily if you live in the midwest Corn belt.

It has been my experience that it is NOT COST EFFICIENT.

In California it is about one dollar more a gallon than regular gasoline.

I did not get very good gas mileage when I used it.

And I hear it will corrode your fuel system and engine if you don't use a special additive.

But it is very clean burning and good for the enviroment.

And I would gladly pay the extra price if I could be sure that the middle east countries would never see another American dollar again.

It would be much better for the enviroment if they took the gasoline out of the mix altogether. But they won't do that for two reasons;

The first reason is that the oil companies would eventualy be obsolete. ( This would actually be the best thing to happen in our enviroment since God said "Let there be light." )

The second reason is people could drink it without getting poisoned. The liquor stores and spirit companies would lose profits because anybody could then buy Moonshine or White lightning for around 3 dollars a gallon because that is what grain alcohol is.

%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;|||If I were U, I'd get em fixed up.|||You didn't mention the year of your cars, but I believe they are quite capable of running on gasohol. Gasohol is 10% alcohol. The new E85 fuels are 15% alcohol. So, upgrading further would be a waste of time and money. This E85 flex-fuel thing is a gimmick. All cars sold in America since the late 80s have been gasohol capable. They should be able to run on 15% alcohol and 85% gas without problem.|||Not cost efficient. E85 is very corrosive to engine parts (more so than gasoline). That means that you will fill up your CRV or nice Acura maybe 5 times before everything starts to go wrong. For a conversion you would most likely need new fuel injectors, lines, fuel pump, etc. that are all stainless steal of corrosion resistant. Of course, aside from costing more than gasoline, E85 also yields worse fuel economy since it has less energy content than gasoline. On the flip side, like others above me have said, E85 does burn cleaner... And of course you would be helping the U.S. economy.

Should I buy an Acura MDX with 150,00 miles on it?

Anybody knows how to lock the 4-wheel drive function on a 2006 Acura MDX?

I found this button "VTM-4 lock" just besides the steering wheel, however when I pressed it there was no feedback and I don' know whether that was the button responsible for 4-wheel drive or not. Can anyone help me?|||You just pushed a button that makes your MDX have permanent 4WD (locking rear differential). To reduce drive train noise and increase fuel efficiency, the system runs as front wheel drive during normal cruising so only push the VTM-4 lock button when climbing steep hills and getting out of stuck situations.

Edit: Your MDX will automatically activate the VTM-4 lock if it finds necessary, otherwise, you can manually activate it while in 1,2, or R. If the button did not illuminate, it did not activate.|||vtm is Variable Torque Management

oh i found this

The MDX's innovative VTM-4 (Variable Torque Management庐 4-Wheel Drive) all-wheel drive system works with the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) to provide extra traction during acceleration and when encountering slippery road conditions. Additional VTM-4 benefits are improved dry-road vehicle dynamics, medium-duty off-road capability, and a lock feature to aid extraction from severe "stuck" conditions. A compact transfer case is bolted directly to MDX's front-mounted transaxle. A two-piece propeller shaft delivers torque from the transfer case to a rear axle drive unit and two computer-controlled, electromagnetically-powered clutches engage as needed to provide torque to the rear wheels. The VTM-4 system provides up to a 30 percent increase in rear torque for enhanced handling and increased steering feel, especially in slippery situations.

How can I lock down the back seats in an Acura MDX?

So I am about to inherit a car but my parents are worried about me ever carrying more than five people in the car. Is there any easy way to lock down the back seat? Maybe weld it shut? I know this is a weird question but it could make the difference of getting a car.

Thanks|||There is no way to lock down the back seat. And I agree that welding it shut would ruin the resale value when that time comes. Why not get a cargo liner that goes to the 2nd row to prevent anyone from using the 3rd row? http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvprodu鈥?/a>|||Just assure them you won't have more than 4 passengers. You can't have more than will fit in the car. Unless you use the trunk, in which case just put them in the trunk with the back seat up. Even if you weld the doors shut they can climb in by pulling the front seats forward.|||Sorry, there's not really any way to lock them down. And welding would be a very bad idea, especially once you try to sell the car.

I have an acura mdx in the last oil change seem like the mechanic?

i have an acura mdx in the last oil change seem like the mechanic messed up ... oil pan was striped by drain bol t , is this smth i need to take care of right away , is it costly and can i drive the car meanwhile|||do not dive this like this more than you have to depending on the rate of fluid loss if its very rapid do not drive it could damage your engine ur mechanic should of changed this bolt when he changed your oil it is very inexpensive and most major oil change places do this every time they change your oil you need this repaired pronto but be very careful of driving it and check your fluid level first hope this helps ps if your engine gets damaged bc of this your warranty ont cover this damage|||how do you know the drain plug was stripped? Do you see it dripping from there, or have you tried the plug is loose? If really stripped, then either you need the pan rethreaded for a bigger bolt, or you need a new pan. Rethread and bigger bolt is about $100 job. New pan is about $400.

Is this a good time to buy an Acura MDX?

2002 MDX with nav for only $9k!

Or should I wait until the recession hits and I can get it for $5k?|||If a recession hits I really don't think that you would be able to afford it at the $5,000.00 price.|||How many miles are on it? That might make a big difference.

Is there a way to change the odometer from miles to km on an ACURA MDX 2005?

i couldnt find a picture, but you would have to switch gauge clusters

here is how it is done for another acura:

jdm honda integra = usdm acura rsx.

here is the japanese rsx cluster.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k283/p鈥?/a>

where as the us rsx cluster looks like this

http://i18.ebayimg.com/07/i/001/26/28/7c鈥?/a>

in america the bigger numbers are mph and smaller are km/hr

in japan/canada its the opposite.

look for a honda mdx cluster since acura is a us market( canada and hong kong as well) brand

for yours the american acura mdx would be equal to the japanese honda mdx so look for a used honda mdx cluster with comparable miles or kilometers i mean.

and the odometer on a japanese cluster will read km's

where as us will read miles

so convert your mileage to kms and find a similar cluster with the same kms's.|||that could mean so many things...

How much does it cost to replace the rack and pinion for my 2005 Acura MDX?

there seems to be a leak and the engine whines, smells funny and smokes a bit.|||The smell is the power steering fluid burning on the exhaust.

Do I really need to spend the extra money to buy premium gas for my car (Acura MDX and BMW 330ci)?

A gas station operator told me it is completely unnecessary to spend the extra money on premium gas for my Acura MDX. (The owner's manual specifies at least 91 octane.) I spoke to someone in the service department of my Acura dealer, and he also said it is not necessary to spend the extra money on premium.

Can I use regular gas without damaging the engine, for a vehicle whose manual specifies I should use 91 octane or higher?

Will performance be truly worse if I use regular gas rather than premium?

If premium gas makes a difference, can I gain the benefit from using it occasionally rather than every time I fill up? (If yes, how often should I use it.)

If spending the extra money on premium is unnecessary, this seems like a big scam. Why is it recommended?|||Premium gas does nothing for normal cars with normal compression (almost all).

You "wrenchers" are not chemists.

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/auto鈥?/a>|||of coarse not....you can buy cheap gas and use the extra money you save to make repairs to your engine as it will need lots of money to rebuild what you mess up trying to pinch pennies. preignition ping can cause catistrofic engine failure...BOOM!

Oh, and another thing, i'd take the advice of a gas guy over the factory engineers anyday.....that is why i got guaranteed job security!|||If your manual recommends 91, stick with 91. Putting premium in an engine that doesn't have a recommendation for premium is a waste, but if you put lower octane in yours, you're going to get a ping.|||Not at all. You also can buy a cheeper car to save the money.|||USE the manufacturers recommendation and pay the extra. You may not notice any difference using lower octane fuel initially, but in the longer run it may cause problems with piston heads. YOU will eventually start hearing pinging sounds which is never good for an engine. ITS the old "pay me now or pay me later"|||you don't have to use the higher octane gas. My pick-up manual says to use it too, but the only time it is really necessary is when I'll be using a lot of horsepower, ie pulling a trailer. If I have lower octane in with a trailer on is the only time I hear the ping.|||Ok all you "wrenchers"! It IS possible to use lower octane fuel in ANY vehicle by the following method. Starting with an almost completely empty tank, go and fill the tank with low grade gas and make sure the station is as close to your house as is possible. After you get home, remove the Negative (-) lead from your battery and leave it disconnected for at least 15 minutes. Re-connect the Neg. cable back to the battery and immediately start your car. The computer will have been totally reset and it will sample the intake (gas and air) and the exhaust (o2 sensors) and WILL be perfectly happy with the lower octane of fuel. You WILL lose some horsepower but most folks don't notice it. Think this is BS??? Then why can I do the reverse by adding a higher HP chip that requires premium???? The car's computer WILL go both ways. My Honda S2000 and wife's VW Passat have both been weened to cheaper fuel for over two years now with NO problems at all - period!

2006 Acura MDX. How much should I sell for?

I have an 2006 Acura MDX Touring and Navigation with 27,000 miles. What do you think is a fair price to sell for?|||Based on the KBB value your car is worth $32k assuming it's in excellent condition. I would post a listing asking for $35k to give you some room for bargaining. Good luck!|||i would need to see a picture of it first

Would you rather get a used Lincoln Navigator or a used Acura MDX, both either 2003-2005.?

i'm looking to buy a family car. both cost around the same price range, but i am leaning towards a Navigator more, just becuase it's been one of my top favorites for the past 5 years. but i keep hearing there might be a lot of things that may go wrong that i will have to fix a lot of compared to the MDX. I like the Navigator because it's bigger and looks more like an SUV, to me the MDX looks like a more compact minivan or a bigger wagon..but Acura's are nice i heard. Everyone i know who owns an Acura is satisfied and happy, but i don't know. will a Navigator break down that much...and isn't the milage about the same. Any thougts on both much appreciated. thank you.|||I would get the MDX. Acuras are pretty reliable and the MDX probably gets better mileage than the Navigator. I also think the MDX is a lot safer and easier to park.|||you,ll be a lot happier with the acura than the Lincoln they do give a lot of problems when they get some miles on them, and they aren't very fuel efficient, the acura is good both ways it wont give very many problems and will also be a lot better on gas,in the long run the acura would make you a lot better vehicle, good luck with it.|||Lincolns gets bad gas mileage. Acura doesn't have enough room but it is easier to drive over all and park in parking spaces.

BUY the Lincoln if you been wanting it for along time because you may not be satisfied until you get it and maybe you will see that the MDX may just be a smarter choice for family purposes and financially on maintenance too. the Acura will have a better resale value in the long run being that the engine is HONDAS product. all trucks hold their value better than any car.|||Accra because their better cars all fords suck and have problems once they get to be about 3 yrs old.|||I think the Navigator is better looking SUV........but that's about it...

The MDX is a great and reliable SUV. Take a look at Consumer reports.

Is this too good to be true? acura mdx 2007 for 10k less then kbb?

I looked on Craigslist and found an amazing deal for a 2007 acura mdx with only 20200 k miles on it. THere was on city or phone number on the ad so is it a scam or what? The pictures looked like they were taken out side of hotel.|||Never heard the saying "if it looks too good to be true, it is"?

Seriously. Stop and ask yourself something very important.

Under what circumstances would YOU sell something for 10k less than it's value?

If it was stolen.

If it was broken.

If it doesn't pass emissions, or cannot be registered.

If it is salvaged....

And then assume that the seller is in one of those circumstances.|||could be a scam, or the car may be under a salvaged title which significantly lowers its value|||only one way to find out. Got check it out with a friend that knows a bit about cars or even higher a mechanic for an hour unless you know one, to look at a car. Better to pay 100 bucks then to buy a lemon. good luck.|||When you get close to buying a car, and you have a couple in mind, use carfax.com. $40 to use their unlimited service sucks, but $40 is nothing compared to the total cost of your future car. I know their commercials are lame, but it's worth it in the end. Saved me from buying a sketchy car.|||http://urlhawk.com/csf

- here's a good website to look for real cheap quality car from government auctions!

I bought my car for just $1250 with a milage of 5,270!

And it's been already a year I'm riding my car and it's still doing well!
